Sunrise. The dawn of a new era upon a dimly-lit world. A glimmer of hope after centuries of unfathomable darkness.
At least, that's what Catherine Amperan would like to think each sunrise is. In reality, it's likely to be just another morning with another heaping cup of sweet tea.
Life at the Chrominan Integrated Defense Authority is far more mundane than she had ever figured. On most days, nothing happens--she'll wake up, get breakfast, sit around, grab lunch, go home, rinse, and repeat. Every month or so, there's a drill of some sort before life reverts to the usual schedule.
Until today. Something's amiss, and it's definitely not a drill.
Chrominance follows the escapades of Catherine, her commander Stanley, and her often-smart squadmate Hector as they venture throughout the Interchroma on a mission to bring the sunrise about. The story itself is about seven parts science fiction, two parts allegory, and one part fantasy (with a pinch of inspiration from classic epics for good measure.)
You can read Prelude to Sunrise in print when it releases early next year through Kytelvis Graphic Arts, or you can wait a bit longer for our resident slacker of a webmaster (me!) to get the online version up. Thanks for sticking around for the journey.
Echovita is a Christian above all else who works on comics and art in whatever modicum of spare time he has. When he's not wearing his artist hat, he's probably tinkering with old computers, playing an old Yamaha synthesizer, or writing yet another article on theology for the denizens of Twitter.
You might notice a bit of the mid-90s fandom in his work, especially throughout Chrominance. He was inspired by many of the artists from that era, but wanted to write a family-friendly story that wouldn't look out of place in a church library or at a homeschool convention.
Find him online at eqp.neocities.org and on Twitter at @echovitaonline.
